Champion Round-Up | 11th September

Champion Round-Up | By Ged Cosgrove, group managing partner

With a familiar chill in the air and schools back in session, one thing is certain: autumn has arrived. At Champion, this season always feels special, as it marks the moment we welcome our newest trainees.

Supporting a new cohort of bright, motivated young people with a passion for numbers is both a privilege and a responsibility. As industry leaders, we see it as our duty to help shape the next generation of professionals – not only to safeguard our clients’ long-term needs, but also to pass on the very best practices that underpin high-quality accountancy, audit and advisory. This, we believe, is our lasting legacy.

This year, we’re delighted to welcome five new trainees – Oliver, Lucy, Ethan, Jacob, and Harley – as they each embark on their individual AAT, ATT, and ACCA journeys across our practices, colleges, and specialisms.

What stands out most is their enthusiasm. Each is ready to work hard, take ownership, and act with integrity in every interaction with colleagues and clients alike.

Our role as a business is to deliver more than just a training programme. We provide continuous, tailored mentorship that reflects each individual’s ambitions, learning style, and personal challenges. A one-size-fits-all approach has no place at Champion. Instead, we create an environment that enables people to learn, grow, and thrive.

This commitment is embedded in our Culture Wheel, which guides the way we work every day. One of its principles is to constantly develop ourselves and our methods – striving for excellence in a learning-focused, blame-free environment.

Another is to invest in career progression, ensuring opportunities for advancement from within. Indeed, many of our current mentors once began their own careers as Champion trainees.

Please join me and the whole Champion team in wishing this year’s cohort the very best as they take their first steps toward building thriving, successful careers.

We look forward to watching their journeys unfold.
