Emma Bradfield, who works in our Audit & Accounts team in Manchester, competed in her first Ironman earlier this month, making her Champion’s first Ironwoman! She completed the gruelling course in an impressive 13 hours 42 minutes and 46 seconds.

Ironman is a long-distance triathlon, with the UK version taking place in Bolton each year. The ultimate test of endurance, it consists of a 2.4-mile open water swim at Pennington Flash, followed by a 112-mile bike ride through Bolton, on towards Bury, through the hills of Ramsbottom and on to Rivington. The bike ride ends back in Bolton, where competitors then have to complete a marathon, looping around Bolton with a climb of 315m. We were exhausted just reading about it!

Emma did an amazing job, coming a fantastic 6th place in her age group and 546th overall, in a field of 1310 athletes. No stranger to pushing herself to the limit, Emma was part of Champion’s Trekfest team who tackled the terrain of the Peak District during a 50km charity hike in 2017.

Huge congratulations to Emma – we can’t wait to see what she does next!
