SMEs are ambitious yet without a solid funding stream, this ambition could be nothing more than a pipe dream. Whether it’s new equipment, cash injections or extra working capital, businesses need money to continue growing.

Here at FW Capital, we manage the £102million NPIF – FW Capital Debt Finance that lends between £100k and £750k to established businesses within the North of England. The product fund is part of the £400 million Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund (NPIF).

NPIF debt finance can be used to fund stock, new premises, staff, products, marketing and so much more. Ultimately, the fund aims to boost the region’s economy and help organisations realise their full growth potential.

There’s a huge appetite for funding amongst the business community in the North of England, with NPIF providing a greater choice of investment options. Releasing this amount of debt funding will also play a key role in helping to maximise the region’s economic potential. The North is home to more high-growth businesses than London, which collectively, contribute £350billion a year in GDP – a figure that’s close to one fifth of the UK economy.

To cope with increasing demand, we’ve boosted our team of investment executives and account executives and we now have a 25-stong experienced team who understand small and medium sized businesses and are focusing on helping them access the finance they need. In addition, we recently launched a new office and team within Cumbria to ensure we have greater access to businesses across the northern market. Cumbria brings FW Capital’s total offices to six, four in the North West, Manchester, Liverpool, Preston and Penrith and two in the North East, Newcastle and Billingham.

The Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund is a collaboration between the British Business Bank and ten LEPs, and is supported financially by the European Union using funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020 and the European Investment Bank.
