Business advisory specialist, Champion Accountants, has strengthened its client offering after two members of the team qualified to chartered status.
Tax manager David Herd has reached the tax industry’s highest level of expertise as a chartered tax advisor, whilst senior accountant Mark Joint, also from the Manchester headquarters, passed his final exam to become Chartered Certified with the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
David joined the practice as a trainee aged 19, foregoing university and has since progressed up the ranks.
He will now become an accredited member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, the UK’s leading professional tax body. As a specialist tax advisor, David is responsible for advising corporate and personal clients, providing proactive advice around tax legislation to create long-term strategies.
Mark has a finance career spanning more than a decade and has been with Champion Accountants since 2008. He is responsible for maximising profitability for clients by delivering a range of accountancy services including financial forecasting, budgets and planning for a growing portfolio of clients.
David said: “It’s often difficult for businesses to keep on top of complex and ever-changing tax rules, with some paying too much and others not claiming the reliefs available to them, like Research and Development (R&D).
“I’m able to make tax simple so our clients can make informed decisions, plan ahead and often keep more money free to run the business.”
Champion Accountants employs more than 100 staff across accountant practices in Manchester, Blackpool, Preston and Chester.
