SIMON TURTINGTON from Champion IT Solutions is warning business owners that in April 2014, Microsoft will end support and updates for Windows XP, Office 2003, MS Exchange 2003 and any other 2003 operating system.

Why is support ending?

All Microsoft Business products receive a 10 year period of support under its “Support Lifecycle Policy”.  Therefore, 2003 products are due to go out of support in April 2014.

What does this mean?

If you are currently using any of these systems, from April 2014 onwards they will be vulnerable to security risks and viruses unless you take action now and upgrade to supported versions of Windows and Office.

Why is it essential to use supported versions of Windows and Office?

If your systems are unsupported, they will not be up to date or protected, for example:

  • You will not receive security updates which protect your PCs from harmful viruses, spyware and other malicious software which can steal your personal information.
  • You will not receive the latest software updates to improve the reliability of Windows, e.g. new drivers for your hardware.
  • You will not have access to assisted support options or technical contact updates.

What do I need to do?

We recommend that you check which systems you are using as soon as possible, as arranging any necessary replacements could take some time. We are more than happy to come to your business to review your systems and recommend any necessary upgrades.

If you would like to arrange free of charge systems review or have any questions regarding Microsoft support, please contact SIMON TURTINGTON on 0161 703 2500 or e-mail simon.turtington@championgroup.co.uk
