Client: Anheddau Cyf
Sector: Charity
Geographic location: Bangor, Wales
The Company
Bangor-based social care provider Anheddau Cyf provides a vital service in its community, supporting adults with learning and physical disabilities, mental health issues and acquired brain injuries. Established in 1989, its team of 260 covers four counties across Wales – Denbighshire, Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey – supporting around 250 people to live in the community.
The charity was long thriving, but in 2006 encountered a financial crisis. Anheddau Cyf was introduced to Champion’s Preston office (formerly TLL), which specialises in charity accounting, to stabilise its position and protect its future.
The Solution
A Finance sub-Committee now meets quarterly, with the finance manager producing quarterly statements of accounts which detail how the charity is remaining financially viable; and is supported throughout the year by Champion, as part of the Finance Committee. Anheddau Cyf then supplies its end of year accounts to an external auditor for approval.
Within a short space of time, the charity returned to full financial independence and stability, and most recently, Champion has been advising Anheddau Cyf on investment opportunities to further build its much-needed cash reserves.
Janetta Jones, CEO of Anheddau Cyf, said: “Without Champion’s service and support, and their stepping in at such a crucial time for our charity, we wouldn’t be in the strong financial position we are today.
“What’s always been clear is that they understand the sector and the niche financial challenges it faces, which has been vitally important to us. Because of that, Peter and his team have been able to provide the most relevant guidance and expertise, which is the sort of relationship you can’t put a price on.
“Thanks to their team, we’re in a position where the future is bright and we know with their ongoing assistance, we’ll continue growing and being able to expand the service we offer in our community.”
