Champion Round-up | 10th March

Written by Ged Cosgrove, group managing partner

Almost two years on from the first murmurings of a COVID lockdown in the UK (and a long two years at that!), the PM has announced an end to all Coronavirus related restrictions in England.

Some will celebrate, some will go forwards with trepidation. We now require ongoing responsibility in how we as individuals and as businesses police the spread of the virus, whilst ensuring total continuity.

But just as one big challenge subsides, another starts. The Ukraine/Russia conflict is not only troubling on a societal level, but is also causing fuel and energy prices to soar, creating uncertainty in lots of elements of business. Any organisation concerned about how the crisis between the two countries may affect them and their customers should speak to their Champion advisor to create a proactive and reactive strategy to minimise disruption to operations.

For now, let’s focus on some more positive news. Two teams of Champion superstars, from across all our offices, are set to embark on a major fundraiser to celebrate our 50th year. Our Three Peaks Challenge should’ve taken place in 2021 but was delayed due to the pandemic. However, our intrepid teams – made up of myself, as well as Gill Molloy, Dave Herd and Gary Woodall in Manchester, David Hardy in Blackpool, Nathan Jones in Chester, and Russell Spencer and Christian Hignett in Preston – to name but a few – will soon set off on the gruelling trek, which kickstarts on Friday 17th June, hoping to conquer all three peaks in either less than 24 hours or over the course of three consecutive days.

Samaritans is our main charity beneficiary, with other charities local to each of our offices set to benefit from the fundraising, too. Training is well underway, and I wish both teams good luck!

If you’d like to support our teams with a donation, any contribution would be hugely welcomed and will go to such a good cause as we work towards raising £50,000 to mark our 50th year. We’ll be sharing details of how you can sponsor the teams and support our 50th birthday fundraising efforts in due course, so watch this space.

Take care, and remember your team at Champion are always on hand.
