Champion Round-Up | By Ged Cosgrove, group managing partner
As 2025 draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the year and celebrate the successes of our clients and colleagues.
It’s certainly been a year of challenges – and, if the recent Budget is anything to go by, many of the SMEs and charities we support will continue to face pressures into 2026. But the key is this: these are challenges we can tackle together.
If you haven’t yet had the chance to digest the Budget, our Group Tax Partner, Gill Molloy, has pulled together a clear, practical overview of the key changes and what they mean for you. It’s a great place to start, and as ever, if you have questions, please reach out to your usual Champion adviser. We’re here for you.
Despite the headwinds, 2025 has been filled with resilience, creativity and ambition from our clients. We’ve supported businesses through growth strategies, major acquisitions, and successful exits – each one a milestone in its own right, and a privilege for us to be part of.
A particular highlight was helping our first client transition to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) – a meaningful moment that represents long-term stability and shared success.
It’s not just our clients who’ve shown determination this year, but our team too. Across the Group, colleagues have passed an impressive 68 exams, and four team members have become newly qualified accountants. As many of you know, most of our senior team began their careers at Champion, so supporting the next generation of home-grown talent is something we’re especially proud of. Watching our people grow and achieve remains one of the highlights of every year.
Looking ahead to 2026, we’re optimistic. Challenges will come – they always do – but recent years have shown that when we work together, we can navigate anything. And in the year ahead, we’ll continue to be by your side, helping your business grow, adapt and thrive.
Wishing you a restful Christmas break, and we look forward to catching up in the new year.
