Individuals should be aware of fake e-mails currently in circulation, claiming to be from Companies House.
One e-mail is regarding a “Company Complaint” and has a zip file attached containing an .exe file which installs a virus on your computer if opened. The e-mail looks genuine, even containing the correct Companies House contact details.
Another e-mail thanks the recipient for filing their annual return online; however the recipient in question has not filed the return themselves. This e-mail also had a zip file attached.
If you receive an e-mail you suspect to be fake you should report it to Companies House at the following e-mail address: enquiries@companieshouse.gov.uk
