HMRC has announced it will continue to run its “Alternative Dispute Resolution Service” (ADR).

ADR was initially set up as a two-year pilot scheme for SME’s (small to medium sized businesses), to settle any disagreements following compliance checks carried out by HMRC. As part of the service, a business or individual is allocated an independent mediator who will work with them and HMRC to explore ways of resolving the dispute.

Due to the success HMRC has had with the service, it will now continue run in 2013/14 and there is a possibility the service will be extended to cover large and complex cases.
