Champion Accountants’ Manchester office has recently donated 45kgs of food to Salford Food Bank.

During a two-week food drive, Champion team members were encouraged to contribute non-perishable items such as cans, cereals and cakes, which would be used to create emergency food parcels for members of the local community.

At the end of the campaign more than 100 food items were handed over to volunteers at Salford Food Bank – enough to feed a family of four for a minimum of three days.

Ged Cosgrove, Managing Director at Champion Accountants, said: “I’m delighted with the number of donations pledged by the team at our Worsley head office.

“Salford Food Bank offers fantastic support to local families and we are all immensely proud that our donations are helping such a worthy cause in the local community.”

Salford is one of seven food banks in the region set up by The Trussell Trust, the largest food bank provider in the UK, which supplies emergency food parcels to an estimated 1,500 people in the North West every month.

Scott Tulloch, central co-ordinator at Salford Food Bank, added: “I would personally like to say a huge thank you to everyone that donated and took part in the food drive at Champion Accountants.

“More than 13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK and most of those seeking help are not the homeless, but working families that simply cannot afford rising food prices.”
