As part of our commitment to help charities navigate complex challenges, we are co-hosting a workshop and networking lunch exploring the ways in which you can recruit, retain and develop your team to drive excellence at Board level.

Together with Brabners and NFP Assist, the half day event for charity Chairs, Trustees and CEOs will explore charity leadership and vision; board effectiveness and structure; and proficient decision making, risk and control.

Held on Wednesday 18th March at Storyhouse in Chester, the event will see three key speakers take to the floor to share their experience and insight on developing excellence at Board level, before a networking lunch for attendees to discuss how they will implement the learnings with industry peers.

Speakers include:

Donna Okell, Mentor and Facilitator, NFP Assist: A mentor, facilitator and speaker in the not-for-profit community, helping leaders, aspiring leaders and Boards of Trustees to develop outstanding organisations. Donna is also Vice-Chair of The NeuroMuscular Centre and facilitator of the Connect, Lead and Learn Forum for CEOs of Cheshire charities.

Sue Harris, Audit Partner, Champion Accountants (Chester): Sue has worked extensively with charities for nearly 20 years, providing guidance on charity accounting and financial reporting as well as best practice advice on internal control systems and risk management. Her focus is on making charity accounts understandable to individuals from non-financial backgrounds.

Graeme Hughes, Charity Lawyer, Brabners: Having practised exclusively in charity law since 2010, Graeme advises on all aspects, especially the establishment and management of charities, the incorporation of unincorporated charitable trusts and associations, compliance/administrative matters, governance issues, charity mergers, restructures and reorganisations.

Charities across the North West and North Wales are welcomed to attend and recommend this event, which will provide a much-needed insight for charities wanting to arm themselves with advice for excellence.
