For more than 20 years we’ve supported Fylde Coast YMCA with expert accountancy and business advisory services, and we’re extremely proud to see them recently open their new YMCA National Centre, Lakeside, which sits on the banks of Lake Windermere and marks a major milestone in the charity’s journey and expansion.

The new £6.8m school and youth centre has been several years in the making, with the site first being acquired by Fylde Coast YMCA in 2010. With a strategic vision for a sustainable future and determination to invest in the long-term viability, YMCA Fylde Coast commenced upon an ambitious fundraising and redevelopment project in the years that followed to create world class accommodation for schools and youth groups.

The purpose-built facility – which is set within 400 acres of private woodland and features 250 beds; dining, leisure and training facilities; and a climbing wall – will play a major role in ensuring the charity continues to change and enrich the lives of the young people who attend, by delivering a clear focus on quality learning outside the classroom.

Lakeside is a haven from the urban sprawl and provides those who are less fortunate to experience the transformative impact on mind, body and spirit derived from spending time in the great outdoors. More than a million children and young adults have already visited Lakeside and received support on how to build a better future, with the site now boasting the title as one of the largest outdoor activity centres in Europe.

CEO of YMCA Fylde Coast, John Cronin, said: “Opening the Stoller Campus is a pivotal moment in time for YMCA Lakeside. It will enable us to continue offering life changing experiences for future generations. We’d like to thank all our fundraisers, contractors and suppliers who have all helped to make the impressive project a reality.”
