Champion Accountants has appointed Sue Harris as director at it’s Chester office.

Harris, from Waverton, joins the practice following a three-year stint working as a consultant across a variety of sectors including contracting and construction, providing advice on financial management and reporting, corporate governance, risk management and business strategy.

Both: Prior to this, she spent eight years as an audit partner with Baker Tilley, five years as an audit partner for Chester-based Conways and nine years with EY.

As well has heading up Champion’s audit team, Harris’ primary responsibility will be delivery of the firm’s strategy, business development and all aspects of client service, helping to cement its position as the go-to provider of accountancy and advisory services for SMEs.

Harris said: “I was hugely impressed with Champion’s team of skilled accountants and found the whole ethos of the company extremely attractive.

“Chester has a thriving business community and I look forward to raising Champion’s business profile, attracting new clients and helping local firms get on and grow.”

Ged Cosgrove, managing director of Champion Accountants, added: “It’s a crucial time in the evolution of Champion and we need talented people like Sue at the forefront.

“She possesses first-class knowledge of the SME sector and we look forward to capitalising on her abilities and driving growth in this marketplace.”
