Individuals should be wary of fake e-mails which appear to have been sent from HM Revenue and Customs.
The “phishing scams” take the form of a fake e-mail claiming to be from HMRC, offering a tax refund. The e-mail will encourage the recipient to enter their personal information and/or bank details and may be infected with a virus, or else contain links to infected websites.
Individuals are reminded that HMRC will never send e-mails asking for personal details and you should never disclose any personal or payment information in this way, nor should you open or click on any links contained within an e-mail which appears suspicious.
